Identical copy, in design, measurements and materials of the Trumeau - Folding chest of drawers with two doors by Pietro Piffetti (Turin, 1701-1777).

- Gilt brass and bronze bezels and threads;
- Gilded wood carvings;
- In the central part there are 2 sculptures in the round, free standing figures, in carved wood and gouache gilded, represented holding up the shelf but without any support function. To the right, alluding Spring, a female figure with flowers; to the left, Autumn, a male figure with a garland of vine branches;
- The structure consists of a bottom drawers with flap and a riser that supports a shelf with two doors;
- The interior with mirrors and fabrics, houses compartments, drawers and a fascinating system of secrets.

Writings and images: The 9 plaques are made by carved and painted ink ivory; all the scenes have written in Latin and represent the vices and virtues of the sovereigns. In the big central oval medallion we see the taking of Troy. They are images taken from the illustrious works of Otto Vaenius, a Flemish painter at the turn of the 1500s and 1600s.

Provenance: From an archive it can be deduced that in 1789 the piece of furniture was in the Royal Palace of Turin, then it appears in an inventory of the Castle of Moncalieri in 1880 and since 1889 in Rome (the new capital of United Italy since 1871). Today it is part of the artistic heritage of the Quirinale Palace in Rome, seat of the President of the Italian Republic.

Reproduction: A collective of artisans and artisans between Verona, Vicenza and Padua have combined their skills to pay homage to this great work of Piffetti, a cornerstone of the wooden furniture of Piedmontese cabinet-making and more generally of the history of European furniture. Made with scrupulous care and with the use of high-quality raw materials.
